These days, the field of stakeholder management is an essential ingredient in the mix of leadership skills. These are the people who do the politics and public affairs – the ambassadors for the industry amongst politicians and officials in government, local businesses and their representatives, and local community bodies.
They have to deal with a sceptical and sometimes openly hostile media on an immensely wide agenda, ranging from the failure of last night’s 4.15 from Paddington to the development of transport policy and funding. They have to persuade, cajole and sometimes pacify local and national politicians over funding, policy, planning and access.
The judges will be looking for individuals who has worked to raise the profile of the public passenger transport industry in a positive manner, with a focus on community, stakeholder and government relations. HOW TO ENTER
